Foundational Blocks & Process

Foundational Blocks & Process

Regardless of the type of project we’re collaborating on, we’ve refined a process that begins with Two Foundational Blocks to complete. Foundational blocks include a series of workshops and research efforts that together, help align all key stakeholders to a shared vision of what a successful project looks like in the broader context of the overall business & product goals. This process also ensures that we are solidifying a deeper understanding of the user experience and product requirements needed to achieve our goals together with our client.

This process includes:

- Due diligence Secondary Domain Research to gain inform the challenge at hand.

- an Executive Workshop to map product & business OKR’s.

- an Experience Workshop to outline ‘best case scenarios’ around experience design.

- a  Requirements Workshop to align on features & functionality.

Design or Development Blocks

Following the foundational block phase, our clients can book as many Design or Development Blocks as they need to achieve their goals. Development Blocks include Frontend & Backend Developers as part of the dedicated team.

Why do An Executive Workshop?

This workshop is designed to unify all key stakeholders around success criteria for the project. Our approach ensures that the project goals align with other core business, product & marketing and operational objectives.

What is it?

The Executive Workshop is designed to define high level context around the current state of the organization and from there, we map Quarterly OKR’s (objectives and key results) across Business, Product, Marketing & Operations to align everyone around success criteria and goals.

Who’s Involved

Everyone who will be involved directly in the project in terms of management & approvals must attend. Given that many organizations require approvals from executives or division leads at key stages in strategic projects, those individuals should attend this workshop.

Time Considerations

The workshop itself takes three hours to complete, however, You X Ventures allocates time to prepare for the workshop and consolidate and share back results following its completion.

What are the outcomes?

Following the workshop, you will have a shareable document that outlines all stated context & OKR’s into a single spreadsheet view.

a note on documentation:

Before the workshop, the client should share the following documentation if available:

- Key financial performance metrics (revenues, trends up/down)

- Key Engagement metrics across digital properties

- Existing/Draft Roadmaps, Strategy decks regarding future efforts

- Survey/Customer Satisfaction finding, notes, reports.

- Any Wireframes/UI designs in progress if applicable.

Why Do An Experience Workshop?

It is critical and challenging to align on a vision what an ideal scenario looks like for the people we are designing for. This workshop is designed to unify all key project stakeholders around what best case scenarios look like for a set of key customer types for the solution(s)or product(s) in question.

What is it?

We leverage two key UX tools (Persona’s & Journey Maps) to facilitate a storytelling exercise that takes us through desired scenarios. During this time we outline opportunities & challenges at each stage of their respective journeys.

Who’s Involved

Everyone who will be involved directly in the project in terms of management and/or has a deep understanding of the people who will be using the product.

Time Considerations

The workshop itself takes three hours to complete, however, You X Ventures allocates time to prepare for the workshop and consolidate and share back results following its completion.

What are the outcomes?

Following the workshop, you will have 2-3 journey maps shared with their associated persona information and the opportunities and challenges identified during the workshop.

The insights from this outcome help to scope & guide the subsequent requirements workshop.

Why Do A Requirements Workshop?

In order to define the scope, timeline, cost, platforms and deliverables for the project - we facilitate a requirements workshop to help define the sandboxes at play and the absolutes at hand.

What is it?

The objective of the workshop is to define 80% of the core technical considerations regarding features, functionality, integrations, etc. as well as the experiences requirements and the depth of the solution at hand.

Who’s Involved

Everyone who is directly accountable and involved in the project in terms of its development/product should attend.

Time Considerations

The workshop itself takes two hours to complete, however, You X Ventures allocates time to prepare for the workshop and consolidate and share back results following it’s completion.

What are the outcomes?

Following the workshop, our team translates the requirements gathered into a strategic roadmap and commit to a strategic project plan with key milestones & deliverables which we deliver using asana (web based project management tool).
